About...           Given the community need and the commitment and dedication of the Kitty and Puppy Haven staff, in June 2010, it was decided to further the work of the sanctuary and expand to incorporate a specific rescue, rehabilitation and educational programme for Alexandra township in Sandton, Johannesburg.         As a result, Kitty and Puppy Haven have undertaken the immense task of beginning to alleviate the suffering and poor conditions of the animals in the township, taking away any unwanted dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. Additionally, every week, Kitty and Puppy visit the townships with dog and cat food to give to animal owners. We also offer free primary vet care, including de-worming, de-fleaing and sterilisations. Additionally, in our pledge to educate pet owners, we also provide animal welfare education to the residents of the township as well as the surrounding schools.         On our first visit we delivered over 300kg of pet food, bowls and leads and certainly the response was amazing which undoubtedly proves that this is just another way that the Haven is delivering a much needed service to the community.
